Fake fake things everywhere!

This is not about bad publicity for Nigeria on my blog (Omo(detergent)no fit wash the dirty wey don stain that name already).

It’s about something that really really irks me to no end.
I'm talking about the fact that we Nigerians hate ourselves so much that we DELIBERATELY sell poison in the form of fake products, expired food products, adulterated stuff and all what not. All in the bid to make money!

This morning, I heard on the radio that some fake tin tomato brand in the market has caused the death of a number of people.

Some weeks back, it was some expired children teething medicine which claimed the lives of so many innocent children.

I ask why?!!!

Why is it that some people do not have any form of conscience at all? I mean, you know fully well that a product is hazardous to your consumers yet you still put it into the market just because of money.
Do they not understand the preciousness of life?

Do they not know that they are going to be answerable to God almighty for their deeds at the last day?

It’s crazy and sad that we have such devilish people in our midst.

May God continue to save us from them, Amen.
Talking about fake products in Naija…

I remember last Xmas, a supplier working with my company had given me a gift for Xmas- A carton of Eva bottled juice.

Na so I happy carry my Eva bottled juice go house.

I don dey imagine how I go put the drink for fridge…

How I go take enjoy my chilled Eva juice and Xmas cake, lol!

I even used the drink to do longathroat for my brother, :)

Anyway, fast forward to the day I wanted to enjoy my chilled Eva drink.

First thing I noticed was the cork.

It wasn’t the usual wooden cork. This one was rubber.

I shrugged it off thinking maybe the producers had changed the cork.

So I opened the drink. Annn…aaaa…No popping sound? The thing just open like say na bottle of water I open.

I started suspecting the drink...

But still, I was determined that nothing was coming between me and my chilled Eva drink, lol!

Na so I pour the thing inside glass

No bubbly, no nothing…Aannn…annn!!!

Afraid catch me o but I say na lie! Na me and dis drink today!

So I raised the glass to my mouth.

Kai!!! Chai!!! Ptwaaa!!!

I spat it out

Na Zobo this people carry pour inside bottle abi wetin?

The stuff had a horrid taste.

OMG!!! I was disappointed.

I had to open all the other bottles in the carton and pour away the contents while enduring my brother’s annoying laughter.

“He he he, you no drink your Eva juice again? He he he…”

The thing pain me no be small. Na so person for drink poison say im dey drink juice.

A note of warning to all those buying bottled drinks this Xmas especially Eva Juice.

Don’t buy those ones they sell on the road along Apongbon o! Make sure you buy from the importers/distributors or reputable supermarkets.

Bad people plenty!
Okay still on fake products in this our obodo Nigeria.

Wow! Am really in the mood for gist abi? lol!

This one is directed to my peeps in Lasgidi.

Have you noticed those guys selling Harpic toilet cleaner, Morning fresh liquid wash or Car wash in traffic?

You must have sha. Them plenty everywhere.

Those guys are major crooks o!

All those stuff they sell are big time Fake and adulterated products.

Sometimes you buy Harpic or Morning Fresh and you find that it is just Omo or bar soap dissolved in water.

My younger brother bought one of ‘em Liquid car wash they sell in traffic.

The poor boy emptied almost half of the fake car wash inside bucket of water yet the thing no gree foam.

This is a brand of car wash that usually requires you to use only a capful to one bucket of water o!

When I asked him how much he bought it. He replied “N200”

I laughed. “You see yourself? Something wey dem dey sell for N350 na im you buy for N200. You dey find cheap thing…now you do see am!”

Now, that is one way they trap their unsuspecting customers.

Ridiculously cheap prices!

This is where I blame the people who buy those fake things.

You know the market price of something is a lot higher that what you are been offered by those boys in traffic yet you still go ahead and buy thinking you had gotten a great bargain.

Ha ha ha…
Yes you have indeed gotten a great bargain of ‘Gbanjo’ (Fake) product!
Two days ago, I was in the car with my elder brother heading home and as usual we were stuck in traffic.
One Harpic seller passed by the car holding up his fake Harpic

“Madam, buy Harpic…”
I turned to my brother. “Bros, you know say all this Harpic wey them dey sell for Traffic na Fake?”
“How you take know?”
he asked.
“For one, the price of the small size Harpic in the supermarket is about N280- N300 but these guys can sell for as low as N100. Which kain Harpic be that one? Even the company price no be N100”
He didn’t quite believe me so I said “Oya just watch and see…Hey!” I beckoned to the Harpic guy.
He quickly ran to the car. I wound down the window.
“How much you dey sell your Harpic?”
“Madam, na N280”
“N280 ke! Some thing wey dem dey sell N120??”
“N120? For where? Madam, you know the price na…Na N280 for everywhere even for market. Oya pay N250

“Me I no pay any N250 0! Na N120 I get”
I made to wound up the window and he stopped me.
“Oya na how many you want buy?"
“Na one na! Na only one toilet I get”

“Okay bring money”
“Make I pay N120?”
“Yes, bring money”

He shoved the bottle of Harpic at me.
I thought quickly. This had been too easy. I didn’t want to buy and I had to get myself out of the situation fast. I no want make person pour spit for my face.

So I turned to my brother and mumbled some words to him. Then turned back to the guy at the window.
“Eh ya…sorry o…my husband talk say im don buy one yesterday…”
I hadn’t completed the sentence before the guy hissed and walked away.

My brother laughed. “So he agreed to sell for N120?”
“Didnt i tell you? ”

So to end this long post.
Lesson: Please be careful what you buy in this Naija cos plenty plenty fake thing full everywhere. It’s even worse when it’s something you are taking in like food or drugs.
So many have lost their lives this way.
Please be careful.

Happy Weekend everyone!

Just blabbing!

I know I promised to do a proper post last time but I wasn’t able to do it until now cos I was a little indisposed, lol, who am I kidding?? I was down! Down with malaria fever for 5 whole days! It wasn’t funny at all. One minute, I was hale and bubbly, the next I was burning up, shivering and in pains. These past days have been hell, I tell you but am glad it’s over now, am stronger and back to work.

Seriously now, I don’t have anything to blog about. My head is like empty right now. This is so unlike me, cos I usually have a lot in my head just begging to be put down but today, when I really need to blog about something, anything…i cant put my thoughts together. Did someone say after effects of the malaria? lol! I didn’t have cerebral malaria so don’t even go there!

Hmmm…what to gist…what to gist…

Okay, have I told you guys that my brother’s traditional wedding is coming up this Saturday? I put up the link to their wedding webbie, some time ago and many of you were sweet enough to visit and sign their guestbook. Well, in a few days, they would be traditionally wedded (is that a phrase?)lol! Anyway, this means that I would be travelling down east cos I have to play a prominent role in the wedding, It’s my brother remember? However I am so not looking forward to the long road trip to my village and its not just because of the “when are you calling us” which I am sure to get from my aunts and uncles, it’s because I HATE long distance trips by road!. Yea I know there are airplanes and flights to the east but hey are you gonna give the money?? I am megally broke, lol! NO! I am not kidding, I am serious! Yes even princesses gets broke at times and no, I haven’t been spending frivolously… okay… I admit I did spend frivolously on something recently, Something I probably never even needed in the first place (I didn’t realize it then). Don’t ask me what it was cos I aint telling. Lol! Maybe if I hadn’t bought it, I would have extra cash to pay for my flight down east this weekend*sighs*

Oh well, I can’t dwell on that now, I just need to get my road travel gear ready for the inevitable road trip. Aha! Did I mention that my brother’s wife, my sister-in-law is a really sweet and lovely person and am sure we’ll get along really well. I never had a sister growing up and am glad am getting one now by marriage, lol! Am sure she’ll enjoy her new family. We are waiting to receive her with open arms.

Ahem! I picked up my clothes from the tailor’s yesterday. It’s the ones am rocking at the traditional wedding and the Church thanksgiving. I daresay they look absolutely fab and I know am going to get a lot of compliments on my outfit on the D-day. Whose eyes is turning green??lol!
Maybe I’ll have some pics for you all when I return. Maybe you guys will have to beg me before I post any, lol!
Anyway, thing is I am looking forward to having a blast this weekend, I hope you all do too!
Am out,
Cheers,
princesa

SAD NEWS.

You guys are not going to like this.

I didnt like it too when i heard. God! I feel devastated!! I can only imagine how he will be feeling right now. I cant wait to go home and console him.

I just heard the news from my MUM. Funny i had to hear it from her considering the fact that she is not even in town. Its not surprising though, mumsy loves to check up on her kids every two two mins anytime she is away from home.

No too much tory. Will just take y'all through the conversation.

Me: "Hello Mum"

Mum: "Nne how are you"

Me: "Am fine"

Mum: "Have you been to the hospital yet?"(Last nite when she called, i had told her i wasnt feeling too well and would be going to the hospital this morning)

Me: "Yes i went this morning. Will be going back later in the day to get the tests results"

Mum: "Okay....Have you spoken to Uzee?"

Me:(wondering why i had to speak with someone i saw this morning at home) "No, i havnt. What happened?"

Mum: "I just called him now and he told me he has just been sacked"

Me: "What!, My God!! It cant be true"

Mum: "It is o! He told me he was in the office packing his things. They sacked the two of them, he and the woman"

Me: "Ah! This is not fair! Its not fair at all"

Mum: "Its not fair! Now he has to suffer for helping her. That woman is a witch, If i was in Lagos now i would have gone straight to their office and dealt with her. I will make sure i tear her clothes....."
(When it comes to her own, my mum can do anything o! I dont doubt that she would do what she just said)

Me: "God will pay her back, she will definitely suffer for making the poor boy lose his job"

Mum: "Yes she will, Poor Uzee! To lose his job this way!! Just when he was expecting his confirmation letter!!! Abeg call am now and console him o!"

Me: "I am going to call him rightaway, Dont worry"

So that's the situation now. My brother has just lost his job. He loved that job sooo much. For as long as i can remember, his one dream has always been to become a banker, not like me whose career aspirations always changed with the weather.

How happy we were when he got the job at the bank cos everyone knew it was what he wanted to do. Now barely one year into his dream job, he has lose it because of that conscienceless woman. God punish her!

I mean, did she have to drag him down with her?!?!

Even when she knew she was leaving, she still had a chance to set things right for him but she didnt. Probably she didn't want to be remembered as a LIAR.

I know am ranting but God knows i feel like i could kill her right now.

Thanks to every one who prayed for my brother. Ur prayers werent in vain. Am sure God knows best. He has something better in store for him, its only a matter of time.

I have to go now. I have an appointment with the doctor.

UPDATE
How do i even begin to thank everyone. I read your comments and some how my spirit was lifted. It feels so great to have people around you who care. Am so glad for y'all my blog family.

When i got up from bed this morning. Guess what i did? I went to my brother's room to check if he was there. I was hoping every thing was just a bad dream and i would get there to find that he had already left for work. I knocked. No response. I was about to start thanking God when i heard-Sis, is that you?
My heart broke once again and i walked away after replying that i was just checking up on him.

As at when i left the house he was still in his night clothes. It all felt wrong! I mean usually he left the house even before i woke up(yes o! i sabi sleep well well) and now here i am leaving for work and he was still at home with no plan for work.

Anyway, he is planning to appeal to the bank board(he says one of his bosses advised him to do this) to allow him resign formally instead of being terminated. This will help him get a job in some other bank @ an even higher level. Otherwise, if not he will have to start from the scratch again as an entry level employee. Some good peeps have already volunteered to help him get another job once the bank grants his appeal. '36' has also offered to help, Thank you dear.

For now, lets keep our fingers crossed and hope they grant the appeal. Dont forget to put him in ur prayers too.

p.s: My health is better now, thanks for the concern.

CONSCIENCELESS

Not sure if the word-conscienceless is in the dictionary but for me it describes a person without a conscience or one whose conscience is DEAD!

A little child may not be able to (totally) discern between good or bad but as a person grows older and attains reasoning, they know when they are doing something wrong/right.

A person's conscience is his/her first judge. If one's conscience is alive, that person is feels bad/guilty when he does something bad (relative though) but for someone whose conscience is dead and long buried, he usually cares less about his actions. As long as he is happy, every one else can be damned.

My brother's job is at stake!
Why?
Cos he was being a nice guy to a conscienceless woman.

My brother works in the Credit department of a bank in Nigeria. They are in charge of giving credit facilities to the bank's customers.
His boss-a woman is in charge of allocating this credit and inputting certain confidential information into the bank's system. According to the bank's policy, she alone is to know the system password at any point in time.

Now, I don’t know if she was being plain lazy or maybe it was too much work for her to handle cos it turns out that this woman always asked my brother to help her out with some of her responsibilities. This meant that she also had to divulge the password to him so he could access the information needed.

Bobo nice, I mean my brother went along with this and at a point she practically handed over the credit operations to him. Stupidly, she didn’t even bother following up on the transactions he made.

Months down the line, auditors were sent to their branch and they noticed some irregularities-a customer had been granted a credit facility of five million naira (=N=5,000,000.00) but this was later reduced to One million naira (=N=1,000,000.00). The paper documents were amended but unfortunately the change was not reflected in the system.

Of course eyebrows were raised and his boss was questioned. This was the point when she should have come clean with the auditors and told them that she had delegated someone else to handle the transaction but no she didn’t! In stead she said someone must have stolen her password and done the transaction without her knowledge. See lie!!!
She didn’t want to admit that she had divulged the password and shifted her responsibility to another. If she had, maybe they would have been able to resolve the issue @ branch level but she didn’t and so the case was taken to the head office.

Interrogations began. My brother owned up that he had handled the transaction but with the consent of his boss and that she gave him the password. Still, the woman refused to accept that she did. She went on with her initial story of "He stole the password".

A panel has been set up by the bank to look into the issue. My brother's colleagues who were aware of everything have assured him that they will testify on his behalf if there is need to. His branch manager is also on his side and he has assured him that there is nothing to fear.

Funny enough, this woman told my brother that she will never agree to the fact that she gave him the password and asked him to handle the transaction because she doesn't want to lose her job. See selfishness! So na my brother na im good to lose im job abi? Ok o! Serious, it baffles me how a respectable (??) married woman like that cannot take responsibility for her actions instead she is looking for someone to bear the brunt of her laziness/stupidity.

When I think about the whole issue I wonder if her conscience does not prick her at all. If she can really go to bed and sleep peacefully knowing that she is about to ruin the career of someone else who was only helping her. If she'll be able to live with her conscience if my brother loses his job on her account. She alone can answer these questions.

Am hoping that the issue is resolved without my brother losing his job.

My brother will never be the scapegoat in Jesus name, Amen.

He need your prayers everyone.
