You know, this reminds me of the time I came back home for the holidays in my second year in the University with an award- Award for the Most beautiful girl in my department for that year.

I was excitedly showing off my award to my family when my dad commented:

“So you couldn’t get the award for the most intelligent student…what’s the big deal about being beautiful?”

My dad had always pushed us to realise that beauty without brains is meaningless.

Anyway I made him proud when I had one of the best results during Graduation…:)

There I go…digressing,lol!

Anyway, The tag is cool cos all I need to do is to talk about six things I have learnt from blogging.

So here goes…

Blogging has helped to improve my vocabulary. I have learnt new words and new ways to say the ones I used to know.

Blogging has taught me to appreciate other people better. I now appreciate better the fact that we all have different experiences and react to situations in our own peculiar ways.

I have also learnt to respect other people’s opinions and choices. We don’t all have to believe in the same things but we can learn from our differences.

Blogging has helped me to develop my writing abilities. I am inspired to write better when I read some of the stuff you guys put down.

Finally, Blogging has introduced me to some really wonderful people. People I can share my life's experiences with and people who have been there for me, when I needed them.

Thank you so much guys for making Blogging fun!

SUMMER BLOGGER REUNION

Last January we had the Naija Bloggers Party. Nigerian Bloggers, home based and international(lol!) all gathered at a nice cool joint and got to know ourselves over drinks. It was a blast and for those who missed out on that, another opportunity is here to get to meet your favourite bloggers in person and have fun while doing it.

I don’t know how many international bloggers(lol) can make it but I know we have a lot of home based bloggers too so there is no excuse o. For the anonymouses, don’t worry ur identity will be protected, ask those who attended the NBP.

We have tentatively picked a date- August 2nd. It can be changed if it doesn’t fit into the schedule of the majority.

As for venue, we are considering two options. The bar or the beach. No be bar beach o,lol!



For the bar option, we are considering COCONUT GROOVE on Awolowo road, Ikoyi but we are open to other suggestions.

For the beach option, we haven’t settled for any beach in particular but ALPHA BEACH looks like the best bet anyway.

Personally I prefer the beach option. Afrobabe no fear, dat ur dream no go come true,lol! The beach promises to be more groovy and we can let our hair down, don our sexy summer wears and boogie as much as we want unlike the bar option where we’ll likely be sitting round tables and spending our little money on expensive drinks. However we also need to note that this is the rainy season in Naija and we all know that a day at the beach is no fun under the rains.



Whatever sha, let me not influence any one’s decisions abeg.

Letter to my friends

Dear Friends,
I hope you are all doing very well, if so doxology,lol!
The main purpose of my writing this letter is to let you know that I will be off blogging for some time. I am not leaving blogville or abandoning you my darlings. I am only going to be busy with some other stuff that won’t allow me to blog for a while. It may take a week or two or even more but I’ll definitely be back.
However, even though I may not be blogging. I’ll still be very visible at your ends.

One whole year of fun
Blogging is hardwork and addictive but it’s still fun.
Joining this wonderful community of beautiful writers is one thing I don’t regret.
A lot of great people I have met here. Lovely friends I have made too
People I probably would never have met if I hadn’t discovered blogville.
Before Blogville, I never used to spend much time on the internet.
When I did, it was usually on fashion websites- browsing the latest season collections (Am no fashion junkie o…just have plans of having my own fashion label in future).
Or on my Yahoo 360 page
And when I wanted to amuse myself with the numerous toasters and their latest toastin lyrics, I’d go to Myspace
Now, I can’t remember the last time I checked any of those sites
Sometimes I even forget I need to check my mails
Yahoo 360 and Myspace people must be wondering what happened to me.
Am practically forever on blogspot these days.
Afrobabe’s, Carlang’s, Allied’s…..
Too many blogs to read
And too little time to read them…Ha!!!
Each day my romance with blogspot only waxes stronger
We still hooked together like stamp and letter
I remember how it all started…

I had met this nice dude on skype
Okay I forgot to mention I also spent some time skyping.
Found out that we went to the same university
And we had a few friends in common too
I rarely logged on to skype
But whenever I did, we were sure to chat
One day while chatting
He sent me a link with the words: “Check out my blog….”
So I clicked and was transported to bloggerland
He had just done a post on his late father then
A very sweet and touching post
I read and left a comment
Just as I was about to close the page window
At the top, I saw this icon that read: ‘next blog’
So I clicked and I found myself on another blog
But this time a strange one; some white lady’s blog,
I read on all the same but I didn’t leave any comment.
Clicked ‘next blog’ a couple more times
Reading all sorts of random blogs
And then I saw the other one
The ‘create blog’ sign
I tapped my mouse…Click…
And I had a blog!
So I did a post…my very first post- I don come o!
And then I buzzed my skype friend to let him know I just created a blog
Did I mention that my skype friend was Anibodude?
Yea he was my blog Godfather
I gave him the link, he visited my blog and left a comment
He wouldn’t visit again for months…bad God father,lol!
Oh well, probably wasn’t all his fault sha,
Me…blog-owner wasn’t even serious about my blog then
You see I already had a blog on Yahoo 360
And I put down stuff there once in a while
So it was that whenever I posted something there
I’d copy and post on my new blog
One thing that bothered me though was…
Comments! Where were the comments?!
Silly me…JJC(Johny just come)
I didn’t know I was supposed to visit other blogs
And post comments so others would find me too
I also didn’t know any other naija blogger except Anibodude
And he didn’t have any blog link on his page
He had just recently started blogging then
And didn’t know too many bloggers so I don’t blame him.
Alas, one day, he did a post
Where he had the links of two naija bloggers
Everyonelovesanaijagirl and Chidi
Where are those two are now?!?! Anyone know??
Anyway I checked out their blogs
Read almost all their posts
Interesting posts they were
Then I saw the list
It was on Chidi’s blog
A long list of blogs…
…Calabargal, Ugodaniels, Azuka ….
Endless!!!
Click, Click, Click
Blog after Blog
I read and read and read for hours on end
Not a few comments I dropped too.
The next time I checked out my blog
5 comments!!! I was so glad!
That’s not a mean feat these days, abi?

Naija Bloggers Party Update

Happy new week everyone! I promised an update on the Naija Bloggers Party which is why I am posting this update. Actually this morning is very busy for me but I just had to create time to do this short post before peeps like afrobabe go strip for me here o!,lol!

The party was not a party in the sense of you know dancing, boogying and all that. I’d rather call it a ‘get together over drinks thingy’. I had suggested we hung out at the beach but most peeps didn’t buy the idea(so I was told)and so we had to settle for the bar thing.
Anyway, It was still great to meet and chat with fellow bloggers. Even though we hadn’t met prior to the party, some bloggers already feel like family to me and it was cool to finally put a face to some of them. There was unnaked soul(shy guy), manda(ol’ pal), obi (blog phantom), writefreak, favoured girl, Tayo, Fantasy queen, dscribe, dscribe’s sister(also a blogger but I forgot her name), Omohemi, jaycee, che-e-ly, Babs and who else(cant remember any more). Overwhelmed naija babe, laspapi and simplynuttie came later after I had left but we spoke over the phone.

Of note is the fact that most bloggers I met are really very good looking, nice, open and friendly.

Sorry I have to stop here. I said I was going to make this short remember? So enjoy the pics guys (Some bloggers want to remain anonymous and i had to respect their wishes so i didnt tag the pics). And afro…nobody shagged anyone(at least at the party venue) and with the cost of their drinks there I doubt if anyone got drunk(I left to early to know anyway).
