SUMMER BLOGGERS REUNION

I know it may seem as though the SBR is not going to hold as scheduled anymore but that is not true. The SBR is still scheduled to hold as planned on the 13th of September,2008 at Alpha beach, Lekki.
The change in dates were due to the fact that we wanted to accommodate a lot of bloggers who complained that the previous dates were not convenient for them however there will be no further change of dates. We are sticking to September 13th.

About 20 bloggers have indicated their interest to attend. We however still want more bloggers to be part of the event. You know what they say, the more the merrier! So if you are going to be in Lagos on that date, do well to come have fun with your counterparts. We consider ourselves one big family here in blogville and activities such as these are meant to help us bond with one another.

Even if you are an anonymous blogger, be rest assured your identity will be protected. Ask those who were at the Naija Bloggers Party last January.

Bloggers can come with their friends and relatives but each person is expected to take care of the refreshment needs of their selves and their guests; in other words, come along with your food and drinks!

Due to the fact that this period is the rainy season, we do not want a situation where party people will get drenched by the rain or something so we are thinking of hiring a large tent on the beach so we have a cover over our heads just in case the heavens decide to bless us with rain.

The hiring of this tent has some financial implications. It is going to cost about N10, 000 to hire the tent for the day.

Then there is the Deejay. We can not overlook the importance of music in any party, can we? Therefore, we need to arrange for a capable Deejay who will give us good music we can dance to. We are estimating that hiring the Deejay will cost us another N15, 000.

There is still the branded T-shirts. This is optional for those who are interested but it will be good if we all can afford to get one since it will also serve as a memorabilia for those of us who attend the SBR.
The T-shirts will cost N1,500 each, very affordable abi?
Below are pics of what they will look like.
GUYS

BABES

So here is the deal.
We do not have a Big time Sponsor therefore every blogger who intends to attend is expected to contribute the sum of N3000. This is to cover the cost of your T-shirt and other expenses(The Tent & The Deejay). We need to get the monies latest by Tuesday September 2nd, 2008. This is to enable us pay for the production of the T-shirts.
Those interested should call 01-7768665 or 01-7611609 for details on how to make payment as well as supplying info on your T-shirt size(small, medium, large, X-large)

Please note that if we are not able to realise enough money to set the party in motion. The party will not be able to hold as planned and a refund for those who have paid will be arranged. Please guys, we can do this. Lets make it work!

Hope to see you at the beach!

CRAZY FLASHERS DON COME AGAIN O!

Someone is pissing me off seriously o!
I wish I could just lay my hands on that person so I can wring her(it’s a she) neck. Okay…Okay maybe not that drastic but I’d love to give the heffer a good piece of my mind.
Let me get to the gist of the matter jare.
For the past two weeks, someone has been ‘flashing’ me.

For those who don’t understand what ‘Flashing’ means. To ‘Flash’ means to dial a person’s number and just when the phone starts ringing you cut it off before the person picks it up.
People ‘Flash’ for different reasons. Some ‘Flash’ when they don’t have phone credit and really need to speak to someone urgently. Some others ‘Flash’ just cos they are idle and don’t have something better to do so they think it’s a great idea to BUG someone else and constitute a nuisance. I TOTALLY dislike being ‘Flashed’. In fact most of my friends know I don’t take lightly to Flashing. If you want me to call you, you can at least spend five seconds credit to say-“Please call me back” or better still, send a text!

So back to my initial gist. This person has been ‘Flashing’ me like crazy these past couple of weeks. Sometimes, I’ll leave my phone on my desk only to come back and find 5 missed calls all from the same number in a space of 5minutes. 1 Flash per minute…crazy! I knew it was a ‘Flasher’ cos on some occasions I’d be holding my phone when the calls come in and just immediately it’d cut off. This was definitely a professional flasher with lots of experience.

So, Many flashes later and an irritated me, I called back.
Me: “Hello who is this?”
Flasher (A female voice): “Hello…who is dat?”
Me: “Someone has been Flashing me with this number, I just want to know who it is”
Flasher: “Na Business Center be dis”
Me: “Business Center?? So who is the idiot that has been flashing me with Business center line, ehn?? You better do something better with your time! Hissssssssss!!!
I cut off the line. It was a waste of my precious phone credit. I thought that was the last of it. Poor me, i didn’t know better.
Days later, I picked up my phone. Two missed calls. I recognized the number, yea it was the same damned number! I wasn’t going to call back this time…had better things to do with my time and credit.
And the flasher kept on. It became a daily affair. So I thought maybe the person had returned to the business center and wanted me to call back and I was getting really pissed off so I called back again.
Me: “Hello, who is this?”
Flasher (Same female voice o): *Funny language*
Me (Not understanding a word): “Whatever it is you are speaking…I beg you don’t call my phone again!”
I cut off the line. What kind of insane joke is this for God’s sake?! This is not funny at all.
Not quite two minutes later. Same number flashing me again. Wetin I do this person wey e no want let me rest ke??? This person want see my red eye sha.
Flash one, I ignored it.
Flash two, I still ignored it.
Flash three, My eyes are getting red now.
Flash Four, I can’t ignore this again. So am calling back, this time poison tongue ready.
Me: “WHY ARE YOU FLASHING ME???”
Flasher: “WHY ARE YOU CALLING ME?”
Me: (See Me see wahala o!) Are you ok at all? So why did you flash me if you didn’t want me to call you back?? STOP FLASHING ME O!!!”
Flasher: “Gerraway, *some other insulting words*
This time the idiot cut off the phone.
I was still smarting from the insult when my ringtone came on again. I looked at the handset. It was the same number!
God knows, I’ll never call that number again but it’s really irking me.
God…I wish I could lay my hands on that heffer!

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
This post reminded me of another annoying Flasher experience I had last year. Then I was still using my old handset that had battery problems. I’d charge it till it showed-Battery Full. However just one call and the phone would go dead.
I was still managing my old phone and praying to buy a new one soon when this crazy Flasher got hold of my number and decided I wasn’t going to rest. This one was also a female (Wat’s with female flashers sef?)and a crazy Jim Iyke fan or so it seemed.
One day, after series of flashing(I think it was after the 30th flash). I was irritated as usual and I called back the number.
Me: “Hello who is this?”
Crazy Flasher: “Hello…I want to speak to Jim Iyke”
Me: “Jim Iyke?? This isn’t Jim Iyke number, This is my number and I don’t

like you flashing me every minute. Pls stop flashing my number”
Crazy Flasher: “Give the phone to Jim Iyke, I want to talk to him”
Me: “You don’t understand English in the afternoon or what?? I said there is no

Jim Iyke here, Stop calling this number!”
I dropped the line.
The crazy flasher continued flashing crazily and my poor phone, it couldn’t withstand the barrage of flashing so it would always go dead.
One night I was waiting for a call. NEPA had struck so there was no way to charge the phone so there I was praying that my battery would last when this crazy flasher started the usual flashing.
Flash 1. I prayed... God let it be just once.
Flash 2. No more, no more.
Flash 3. Now I knew things were serious. I had to call and warn this crazy girl before she kills my battery.
Me: “Hey, stop flashing me, you are running down my battery”
Crazy Flasher: “ I want to speak to Jim Iyke”
Me: “ I have told you this isn’t Jim Iyke’s number, Stop calling this phone!”
Crazy Flasher: “Just give Jim Iyke the phone, I want to talk to him”
Me: Even if this was Jim Iyke’s number. With the way you flash, do you think he’d want to

speak to you?? Just stop killing my battery with ur stupid flashes abeg!.
Crazy Flasher: “Idiot, Stupid, You dey craze!’
Me(stunned): “You must be demented”
Phone cut.
The Kolo case didn’t stop flashing o! It went on and on till she finally grew tired or perhaps realized that Jim Iyke was never calling her back.

I hope this new Flasher stops soon o unless…..SHARIA!!!lol!

SAD NEWS.

You guys are not going to like this.

I didnt like it too when i heard. God! I feel devastated!! I can only imagine how he will be feeling right now. I cant wait to go home and console him.

I just heard the news from my MUM. Funny i had to hear it from her considering the fact that she is not even in town. Its not surprising though, mumsy loves to check up on her kids every two two mins anytime she is away from home.

No too much tory. Will just take y'all through the conversation.

Me: "Hello Mum"

Mum: "Nne how are you"

Me: "Am fine"

Mum: "Have you been to the hospital yet?"(Last nite when she called, i had told her i wasnt feeling too well and would be going to the hospital this morning)

Me: "Yes i went this morning. Will be going back later in the day to get the tests results"

Mum: "Okay....Have you spoken to Uzee?"

Me:(wondering why i had to speak with someone i saw this morning at home) "No, i havnt. What happened?"

Mum: "I just called him now and he told me he has just been sacked"

Me: "What!, My God!! It cant be true"

Mum: "It is o! He told me he was in the office packing his things. They sacked the two of them, he and the woman"

Me: "Ah! This is not fair! Its not fair at all"

Mum: "Its not fair! Now he has to suffer for helping her. That woman is a witch, If i was in Lagos now i would have gone straight to their office and dealt with her. I will make sure i tear her clothes....."
(When it comes to her own, my mum can do anything o! I dont doubt that she would do what she just said)

Me: "God will pay her back, she will definitely suffer for making the poor boy lose his job"

Mum: "Yes she will, Poor Uzee! To lose his job this way!! Just when he was expecting his confirmation letter!!! Abeg call am now and console him o!"

Me: "I am going to call him rightaway, Dont worry"

So that's the situation now. My brother has just lost his job. He loved that job sooo much. For as long as i can remember, his one dream has always been to become a banker, not like me whose career aspirations always changed with the weather.

How happy we were when he got the job at the bank cos everyone knew it was what he wanted to do. Now barely one year into his dream job, he has lose it because of that conscienceless woman. God punish her!

I mean, did she have to drag him down with her?!?!

Even when she knew she was leaving, she still had a chance to set things right for him but she didnt. Probably she didn't want to be remembered as a LIAR.

I know am ranting but God knows i feel like i could kill her right now.

Thanks to every one who prayed for my brother. Ur prayers werent in vain. Am sure God knows best. He has something better in store for him, its only a matter of time.

I have to go now. I have an appointment with the doctor.

UPDATE
How do i even begin to thank everyone. I read your comments and some how my spirit was lifted. It feels so great to have people around you who care. Am so glad for y'all my blog family.

When i got up from bed this morning. Guess what i did? I went to my brother's room to check if he was there. I was hoping every thing was just a bad dream and i would get there to find that he had already left for work. I knocked. No response. I was about to start thanking God when i heard-Sis, is that you?
My heart broke once again and i walked away after replying that i was just checking up on him.

As at when i left the house he was still in his night clothes. It all felt wrong! I mean usually he left the house even before i woke up(yes o! i sabi sleep well well) and now here i am leaving for work and he was still at home with no plan for work.

Anyway, he is planning to appeal to the bank board(he says one of his bosses advised him to do this) to allow him resign formally instead of being terminated. This will help him get a job in some other bank @ an even higher level. Otherwise, if not he will have to start from the scratch again as an entry level employee. Some good peeps have already volunteered to help him get another job once the bank grants his appeal. '36' has also offered to help, Thank you dear.

For now, lets keep our fingers crossed and hope they grant the appeal. Dont forget to put him in ur prayers too.

p.s: My health is better now, thanks for the concern.

Toastin,Toastin!

Hey guys! Its another new week and my prayer for everyone is that by the end of the week we shall all have at least one or two testimonies to tell.

This post i typed last friday but wasnt able to post it due to circumstances beyond my control(lol, cliche i know).

Am not talking about toasting bread or drinking to anything. Toasting in naija parlance simply means a guy trying to chat up/court a babe in view of starting up a love relationship.
Recently, I have noticed a current trend in the toasting style of guys. I call it a trend cos its not just me its happened to, some of my friends have also confirmed its happened to them too. Now what's this new trend, u asking? Ok, here it is-

Your phone rings, it's an unfamiliar number. You answer, its an unfamiliar voice too. Next thing you hear is: "Excuse me, who is this?" Now you are wondering what the hell this is all about. You ask: "Who is this? For God's sake, you called me!" The person at the other line (usually a male voice) says: "Sorry, but I saw this number on my phone and I just wanted to find out who it was since I couldn’t remember…bla bla bla" and he goes on. Next thing he is asking for your name, telling you how you got such a nice voice and how he would love to meet you in person. Sometimes they are lucky and the babe is also willing to meet up but if its someone like me then its their unlucky day.

Sometimes its really someone you know from the past and then you end up re-familiarizing with him or her but most times its just some random guy or babe looking to start up some sort of romance. What's beats me is how they get ones number or maybe they just dial a random number and hope their net catches a BIG fish.

Just this week alone, its happened to me twice. Will tell you about this morning experience. It was after 2am and I was enjoying my sweet sleep when the sound of my phone ringing woke me up. I glanced at the phone, unfamiliar number. I am wondering who could be calling me at such an odd hour. I have a good mind to ignore the call and carry on with my sleep but on a second thought I decide to pick it.

Me (still groggy): "Hello, who is it?"
Caller: Hello, who is this?"
See me see wahala o!, which kain question be this.
Me (fully awake now): "You called me and you don’t know who you called or what"
Caller: "Am sorry, am Honourable ABC, I saw your number on my phone and I was curious to know who had the number"
Me: "Hmm… Ok so its my number"
Caller: "What is your name and where are you right now"
(Am thinking whether to cut off the phone or just humor him a little. Settling for the later, I thought up a name quickly)
Me: "My name is Jane and am in lagos"
Caller: "Ok am in Port-harcourt, Do you come to Port-harcourt regularly?"
Me: "No I don’t, I haven't been to Port-harcourt in 3 years"
Caller: "Am trying to remember where I know you, Are you in school?"
Me: "No am not. I left school some years ago"
Caller: "Which University did you attend?"
Me: " I went to XXX University"
Caller: " Oh! Now am getting it. I had a nephew who went to the same university"
Me: "Hmmm…ok"
Caller: "Are you a beautiful girl"
(Am thinking- Na wetin come bring that one now)
Me: "What has my being beautiful got to do with this?"
Caller: "I used to be in the National Assembly in that state and my nephew used to get me the phone numbers of beautiful girls, I would call them and they would come over and I usually settle them very very well o!"
(What sort of information is this? Who ask you to tell me your dirty secrets?? Hiss)
Me: I don’t think I have ever met you and i don’t know your nephew and now you've remembered how you got my number, I 'll like to go back to sleep. You woke me up"
Caller: "Yes maybe we never met but we can still meet now, Can I send you some money to come down to Port-harcourt?"
Now am thinking, this man must be really stupid, he hasnt met me and is talking about sending me mone to come see him in PH.
Me: "Sorry, am not into that game"
Caller: "What game, am only inviting you to Port-harcourt, I will make it worth your while"
(See this craze man o! he doesn’t understand English or what?)
Me: " I really have to sleep now, am not interested, bye bye"
Caller: "But……"

I dropped the phone. Now I don’t know if the guy was actually saying the truth or if he just tried to dial a random number and got me. It is even more shameful when it’s a girl doing this. Some girls actually seek out some rich dude's phone numbers and go calling in the sexiest voice they can muster. They may be lucky and if the guy is an easy one, something might just brew from there.

One fact is that this trend is becoming more and more rampant and am sure it works for some people if not they wont still be doing it.

Have you ever had one of such calls? Maybe you can share your experience with us.
