FINALLY SBR HAS COME & GONE!

*big sigh of relief*
Okay so the SBR has come and gone.
It was a good one. I had fun and I believe everyone who attended also did.
Organizing the SBR was no small thing o! In fact at some point I almost gave up on the SBR. I was ready to type an apologetic post informing everyone that the SBR was not going to hold anymore but then I stopped myself at the last moment. I said to myself, Princesa you can do this. Even if no body offers to help, you can still push it through. And I did, thank God!

The SBR wasn’t my idea. It was Chari who brought up it up and asked that I help with the organizing. I graciously accepted thinking that I was only going to be helping him out not knowing that bobo had other plans. He practically dumped the responsibility on my shoulders and went AWOL! Me and my high sense of responsibility (I need to start learning how to be irresponsible o), I now had to juggle organizing SBR with my already cramped busy work life. It wasn’t easy but it was worth it at the end. Seeing all those lovely people happy and having fun made it worth the stress. We don’t get to unwind everyday and when the opportunity comes to do so, it’s best to try to enjoy one’s self thoroughly. Like I always say, life is too short for starchy ways abeg!

I want to thank everyone that contributed to the success of this event. Those that contributed in cash, those that gave their moral support, those that attended even those that promised to be there but didn’t show up, una sef try well well.

For those asking to see pics. I'll post the link as soon as i finish uploading the pics.
That is if others don't have any qualms. No tagging tho!

SUMMER BLOGGERS REUNION

I know it may seem as though the SBR is not going to hold as scheduled anymore but that is not true. The SBR is still scheduled to hold as planned on the 13th of September,2008 at Alpha beach, Lekki.
The change in dates were due to the fact that we wanted to accommodate a lot of bloggers who complained that the previous dates were not convenient for them however there will be no further change of dates. We are sticking to September 13th.

About 20 bloggers have indicated their interest to attend. We however still want more bloggers to be part of the event. You know what they say, the more the merrier! So if you are going to be in Lagos on that date, do well to come have fun with your counterparts. We consider ourselves one big family here in blogville and activities such as these are meant to help us bond with one another.

Even if you are an anonymous blogger, be rest assured your identity will be protected. Ask those who were at the Naija Bloggers Party last January.

Bloggers can come with their friends and relatives but each person is expected to take care of the refreshment needs of their selves and their guests; in other words, come along with your food and drinks!

Due to the fact that this period is the rainy season, we do not want a situation where party people will get drenched by the rain or something so we are thinking of hiring a large tent on the beach so we have a cover over our heads just in case the heavens decide to bless us with rain.

The hiring of this tent has some financial implications. It is going to cost about N10, 000 to hire the tent for the day.

Then there is the Deejay. We can not overlook the importance of music in any party, can we? Therefore, we need to arrange for a capable Deejay who will give us good music we can dance to. We are estimating that hiring the Deejay will cost us another N15, 000.

There is still the branded T-shirts. This is optional for those who are interested but it will be good if we all can afford to get one since it will also serve as a memorabilia for those of us who attend the SBR.
The T-shirts will cost N1,500 each, very affordable abi?
Below are pics of what they will look like.
GUYS

BABES

So here is the deal.
We do not have a Big time Sponsor therefore every blogger who intends to attend is expected to contribute the sum of N3000. This is to cover the cost of your T-shirt and other expenses(The Tent & The Deejay). We need to get the monies latest by Tuesday September 2nd, 2008. This is to enable us pay for the production of the T-shirts.
Those interested should call 01-7768665 or 01-7611609 for details on how to make payment as well as supplying info on your T-shirt size(small, medium, large, X-large)

Please note that if we are not able to realise enough money to set the party in motion. The party will not be able to hold as planned and a refund for those who have paid will be arranged. Please guys, we can do this. Lets make it work!

Hope to see you at the beach!

Princesa.

SUMMER BLOGGER REUNION

Last January we had the Naija Bloggers Party. Nigerian Bloggers, home based and international(lol!) all gathered at a nice cool joint and got to know ourselves over drinks. It was a blast and for those who missed out on that, another opportunity is here to get to meet your favourite bloggers in person and have fun while doing it.

I don’t know how many international bloggers(lol) can make it but I know we have a lot of home based bloggers too so there is no excuse o. For the anonymouses, don’t worry ur identity will be protected, ask those who attended the NBP.

We have tentatively picked a date- August 2nd. It can be changed if it doesn’t fit into the schedule of the majority.

As for venue, we are considering two options. The bar or the beach. No be bar beach o,lol!

For the bar option, we are considering COCONUT GROOVE on Awolowo road, Ikoyi but we are open to other suggestions.

For the beach option, we haven’t settled for any beach in particular but ALPHA BEACH looks like the best bet anyway.

Personally I prefer the beach option. Afrobabe no fear, dat ur dream no go come true, lol! The beach promises to be more groovy and we can let our hair down, don our sexy summer wears and boogie as much as we want unlike the bar option where we’ll likely be sitting round tables and spending our little money on expensive drinks. However we also need to note that this is the rainy season in Naija and we all know that a day at the beach is no fun under the rains.

Whatever sha, let me not influence any one’s decisions abeg.

We’ll like to know what you feel about the SBR. You can also RSVP here if you’ll be interested in attending.

Will keep you’all posted.

Thank God it’s Friday!!!

Enjoy ur weekend dears.

Lenten Appraisal

In 17 days, it’d be Easter and this year’s Lenten season would be over.
The Lenten season began exactly 1 month ago(February 6th) with the ash Wednesday celebrations.
Today I sit back to take stock of how good/bad I have been this lent.
Before the Lenten season began, I had PLANS, lots of plans on what and what I’d do. You know how the season is meant for us to retreat into ourselves, mortify our flesh through fasting and other forms of denial and try to amend our life in line with the word of God.
So like I said earlier I had made plans. Stuff I was going to do and stuff I wouldn’t do. Some of my ‘To do’ plans were-

Cut down on blogging
Attend week day masses(I am catholic) at least 2ce every week.
Fast 6-12(Yea…yea…I no fit do the marathon 6-6,lol!)at least 3ce every week
Pray the rosary at least once a week
Do the Stations of the cross prayer at least once a week
Go to confession and confess all those my bad bad behaviours, lol!
Receive communion at least 2ce a week
Keep God’s temple(my body of cos!) holy meaning nothing like kissing or touchery not to talk of the main do-SEX!

And some of the ‘Not to do’ plans:
No too much ‘Goodtime’ (you know…too much having fun) this period
Partying is out of it!
Too much of ( I wonder…how do one rate ‘too much’??) ‘TFC’, Tantalizers, Chicken republic, Barcelos, all the nice chop chop places sha is not allowed.

So the question now is how have I fared??
Very bad, I think.
Let’s take ‘em one by one.

Cut down on Blogging
So the Idea was- no staying back after work to read blogs, comment, whatever! But sadly, it’s like I read even more blogs this periods. Sometimes I am through with work for the day around 5pm but instead of making like a good girl and packing my ‘ngwongwo’(load) to head for church(the original plan…remember?). I’d say “Just one more blog…God pleaseeeeeeeeeeee! And the next thing, I’ll find myself staying on till it gets too late to go to church. My bad BAD…I know. Really from now on if any of you sees me on ur blog again at odd hours(lol), chase me out with koboko o!(yea right!)

Attend week day masses at least 2ce every week
If you take the fact that out of the 30 or so days already gone in this lent season, yours truly has only attended weekday mass TWICE… am sure you’ll join me to say I failed woefully! Kai…I dey shame for myself…seriously! I admit that though some of the times I have had to work(yea…real work) late, the major culprit for this has been BLOGGING… God save me!

Fast 6-12 at least 3ce every week
On this one, I no fit shout o! You guys want the truth?? Okay here goes…I haven’t fasted for even one day!(God must be so mad at me really)
Sometimes I hardly even remember. I start eating and then suddenly it clicks-“you’re supposed to be fasting girl!’ Only then it’s too late as some of the food done reach destination already.
My boss even remarked one day “I thought catholics also fast during lent” lol! I felt so ashamed and replied “Yea…but am not feeling too well, I have to eat before I fall down”(lol! Do we include lying to my list of sins now?), I doff my hat for my oga(boss) sha, the man has been doing marathon 6am-6pm fasting everyday. I guess if going to heaven depended on how well one could fast, the man for done get room and parlour for there tey tey, lol!) Okay…I digress. The truth is that princesa hasn’t fasted at all this Lenten season and something has to done to remedy the situation… innit??

Pray the rosary/ Do the Stations of the cross prayer at least once a week
*uncheck*
I have failed woefully in this regard again. Can’t remember the last time I held a rosary in these hands. Na rily wa for me sha! Stations of the cross nko?? Na person wey dey go church go do dat one and me na BAD church goer(We’ve established that already na).

Go to confession
I must confess am still carrying my sins around and the weight(of the sins) is not a small matter o! E heavy well well my people. Haven’t downloaded them on a priest yet. Seriously now…I need to go to confession asap! Maybe this weekend.

Receive communion at least 2ce a week
I haven’t gone for confession yet and I can’t receive communion until I do so I guess its *uncheck* for this too. Note to self: You’ve got to hurry up with the confession girl.

Keep God’s temple holy
I have avoided situations that could make me fail this and I daresay I have succeeded with the no kissing/touchery/Sex part. However I have done certain things(am not telling!) that may make it impossible for me to wholly claim that I have followed the plan to the letter. “Forgive me Lord”.

No too much ‘Goodtime’/Partying/Hanging out
Now this, I have contravened seriously.
Just weeks back, this babe was at the Naija facebook beach party and yours truly rocked real hard! Well, that’s like the only party I have been to this lent so I guess its not too bad(yeah…right...who am i kidding!).
On ‘hanging out’, I have also done a lot of that. It’s not a bad thing, don’t get me wrong plzzzz, just that in the spirit of the season I should be engaging less in pleasurable stuff.

Am sure you’all will agree with me now when I say I have not been a ‘very good’ girl this lent. Oh well….its never too late to make amends right? As my people say-“a problem identified is a problem half solved” (I just made that up,lol!)
I have to start making serious efforts to get into God’s good books. I still got 17 days…thank God!

Ps: Thanks to everyone who dropped by my brother’s wedding website and signed their guestbook. You guys are simply Fab!

Naija Bloggers Party Update

Happy new week everyone! I promised an update on the Naija Bloggers Party which is why I am posting this update. Actually this morning is very busy for me but I just had to create time to do this short post before peeps like afrobabe go strip for me here o!,lol!

The party was not a party in the sense of you know dancing, boogying and all that. I’d rather call it a ‘get together over drinks thingy’. I had suggested we hung out at the beach but most peeps didn’t buy the idea(so I was told)and so we had to settle for the bar thing.
Anyway, It was still great to meet and chat with fellow bloggers. Even though we hadn’t met prior to the party, some bloggers already feel like family to me and it was cool to finally put a face to some of them. There was unnaked soul(shy guy), manda(ol’ pal), obi (blog phantom), writefreak, favoured girl, Tayo, Fantasy queen, dscribe, dscribe’s sister(also a blogger but I forgot her name), Omohemi, jaycee, che-e-ly, Babs and who else(cant remember any more). Overwhelmed naija babe, laspapi and simplynuttie came later after I had left but we spoke over the phone.

Of note is the fact that most bloggers I met are really very good looking, nice, open and friendly.

Sorry I have to stop here. I said I was going to make this short remember? So enjoy the pics guys (Some bloggers want to remain anonymous and i had to respect their wishes so i didnt tag the pics). And afro…nobody shagged anyone(at least at the party venue) and with the cost of their drinks there I doubt if anyone got drunk(I left to early to know anyway).

Be good you all.

Xmas Update

Hey peeps! Its been a loooooooooooooooong minute right? Sorry I haven’t been able to update my blog for sometime cos I’ve been mighty busy these past few days. Some of you know how it is over here (Naija) during the Xmas season- everyone rushing to and fro, trying to round up activities before the year’s end. Anyway its all good, am glad the year is winding up and xmas is finally here.

Xmas period is very special, it is a time when Christians all over the world celebrate the birth of the lord, Jesus Christ). Xmas brings with it joy, happiness and peace. There is just something about this season that puts me in high spirits and No, its not the rice and turkey stew, lol!

Today we are closing for the year in my office. Everyone is in the xmas mood already. The casual dressing, funky hairstyles all scream one thing- HOLIDAYS!

Yea the holiday is here and it promises to be a fun filled one for moi. In a few days, I’ll be traveling to my country home somewhere in eastern Nigeria. You see, most people from the eastern part of Nigeria travel to their hometown during this season, it’s kind of like a family reunion thing when you get to see relatives and family whom you probably haven’t see all year. There’s lots of catching up to do, gists to share and all.
Am seriously looking forward to it.

One thing am not looking forward to though are the questions I know will definitely come from my older relatives. Questions like:
“Our throats are dry o! When will you wet it for us?”
“When are you calling us o?”
That’s their subtle way of telling you that it’s long overdue for you to get married. Their throats are dry mean they want to drink the in-laws palm wine(Usually Palm wine is presented by the groom’s family to the brides family during the traditional marriage rites) and calling them means inviting them to your wedding.

When they start, I just pretend I don’t understand what they mean and innocently reply
“Eh ya mama, you want some water??”(To- “Our throats are dry o! When will you wet it for us?”) or
“Calling you?? Okay you mean for my birthday?”( To-“When are you calling us o?”)

They just roll their eyes and give up for that moment. One of my aunties always says i
need deliverance, Deliverance from what abeg? Singlehood?? ,lol!

Anyway am not going to let anyone spoil my holidays for me o, I intend to enjoy it as
much as I can, marriage pestering relatives or not!

Another thing am not looking forward to is the cooking, washing and cleaning. Lol! Am not a lazy bones but if you consider the fact that my home is the palace and there is always one activity or the other going on, people dropping in and they have to be fed. Some times I practically spend the whole day in the kitchen. Just as am through with preparing/serving breakfast, its already time for lunch. After lunch I barely have a few hours to rest and its back to the kitchen to cook dinner.
This Xmas I refuse to be a Kitchen maid o! I have to come up with a solid plan on how to avoid spending the whole day in the kitchen, suggestions anyone??

Hmmm…let’s not forget the Naija bloggers party coming up on Jan 5th. That also promises to be exciting. If you are going to be in Naija by then, you can’t afford not to be there o and for those who can’t make it, don’t worry we’ll have enough fun for everyone. Trust me, I’ll also get some pics for you guys.

HAVE A VERY MERRY XMAS AND A WONDERFUL NEW YEAR 2008!!!

Love you all.
Princesa.
